A graduate of Northwestern University Film School, Liz Graves entered the world of advertising as a producer at J. Walter Thompson, Chicago, where she quickly excelled, displaying a gift for combining creative vision with the technical and managerial skills to pull it off. After five years at this high profile firm, she made a career-defining decision to strike out on her own as a freelance producer. The move allowed her to pick and choose the projects she found most engaging; while refining the keen eye and innovative skills that would soon garner her industry’s top awards, including the prestigious D&AD, multiple Clios, and the 2012 “Grand Prix” Award at the Cannes International Advertising Festival.
Among the top tier agencies who have sought her services are: Mother NY, McGarry Bowen, CAA, BBH, Crispin Porter & Bogusky, GSD&M, and McCann Erickson. As well as clients Coca Cola, Levi’s, Verizon, Chipotle, Target, Revlon, Fox Sports, Guinness, Southwest Airlines, and many more. She works with blue chip corporations and promising start-ups alike, with projects ranging from $10,000 to multimillion dollar campaigns.
Further fueling Liz’s creativity is a longtime love and participation in the independent film community, which began in film school and continues to this day. Whether in film or in advertising, her passion for great storytelling and powerful emotional content guides every project. This passion led her to join in the prestigious IFP/LA Screenwriting Lab, the Sundance Writing Lab, and as a finalist for the Gordon Parks Screenwriting Award at IFP New York.
She also worked closely with renown artist/filmmaker Philippe Parreno to complete the short film “June 8, 1968.” Shot on 70mm and lensed by award winning cinematographer, Darius Khondji, the film is a visually stunning recreation of the Robert F. Kennedy funeral train, and has exhibited at both the Pompidou Centre in Paris and at London’s Serpentine Galleries.
As the landscapes of film and advertising continue to evolve, Liz continues to innovate on the web, in branded content, and in bold, audience-building campaigns that keep her and her clients at the forefront of this fast changing marketplace.
